Green Mango Mocktail – Kacha Aamer Shorbot (কাঁচা আমের শরবত)

What if I tell you that in this scorching heat, you can drink a delicious mocktail, that will not only refresh you instantly but also full of vitamin C, fibre and minerals? Yes I am talking about traditional Bangladeshi shorbot aka mocktail that made from green mango! Yes the mango season has began and so is my mango fever! This year, I will try to share more mango recipes like mango desserts, mango drinks because, you know, Bangladesh has the best mango in the world!

This green mango mocktail is full of Bangladeshi flavor – tangy, sweet, bit spicy and refreshing! There are many ways to make green mango mocktail but today I am sharing the most common one. So for this recipe, we need green mango, sugar, green chili, lemon, cumin seeds, pink salt, normal salt, some mint and water/ice cubes.
You may think how on earth we add chili to a mocktail! But trust me, the taste of chili will not only add a new dimension and open a whole new world of a mocktail to you but will show how perfect a combo is chili and green mango together!

First to peel off the mango skin and cut into smaller pieces. As you can see in the photo, mango is slightly yellow. It will give a nice yellowish tint to the mocktail but it doesn’t make the mocktail sweet. You can take 100% green mango but then you need to adjust the sugar amount.

After dicing mango in small pieces, I added them in a juicer/blender jar with all other ingredients – sugar, chili, salt coriander leaves and lemon juice.
While blending, I dry roasted the cumin seeds and crushed them in a mortar-pestel and kept them aside. The tips is to use freshly grinded cumin to mocktail otherwise there’s no point of using cumin to this recipe.

You can add water while blending to make the juice smoother.

After done with blending, I sieved the whole portion. This way we get a smoother texture and you won’t get any bits of mango/chili/coriander while drinking. After separating the juice from thick part, I added bubble water with juice to give it a mocktail vibe. You can add normal water too. I adjusted the sweetness and thickness of the mocktail accordingly. You can always adjust the taste by adding more sugar/water/lemon juice.

Now it’s time to serve. I added ice cubes, mint leaves and lemon slice.

I sprinkled crushed dry roasted cumin in the end. It will add a nice flavor and aroma.
